Chapter 11

Frank swiped his key card and the door buzzed open. It was a large room. There were metal tables from wall to plain-white cinder-block wall. On both sides of each table was a similar metal bench. Seven observed that the tables and benches were secured to the floor with large metal plates. The room was very prisonlike and what one might expect in such a place. There was only one body sitting at the table in the center of the room. His back was turned to the entry point when Seven and Frank walked in. Frank pointed in the direction of the sitting man and then he turned and began walking towards the wall, where he was greeted by another man in a security uniform. Seven paused for a brief moment and looked at the sitting male frame. He was thin, very thin, and although he was sitting Seven could tell that he was tall, at least six feet. His instant reaction was to look for and identify any characteristics that would prove that this man was a donor for his own DNA. The man never turned or reacted at the sound of the secure door buzzing open or he and Frank entering the room. Gilbert Andrews was dressed in a white prison-type uniform. Written in large red, bold print across the back of his shirt was the word “restricted,” a classification reserved for only the most dangerous of patients at the hospital. The man’s head never turned or moved as Seven began walking towards the table. Seven could hear the rattle of chains as the man adjusted himself on the bench. As he crossed to the other side of the table, Seven could see the source of the sound. The man was handcuffed, and shackles were attached to his ankles. Seven took a seat on the bench across from his father. The width of the table didn’t provide much real estate between himself and the serial killer.

Gilbert Andrews lifted his hands from his lap to the top of the metal table. The movement created a loud clank as the metal handcuffs struck the metal tabletop. The abrupt and unexpected sound caused an unintentional jolt in Seven’s torso. Gilbert achieved the desired reaction from his visitor. The young man was nervous and scared. A slight smile came across the prisoner’s face.
